Journal Prompt 3

Minimalist 21st Birthday Card.jpg

A CHANCE FOR REFLECTION ON HOW HOW YOU HONOUR AND PUNISH YOUR BODY. THERE IS CONSTANT AND SUBSTANTIAL PRESSURE TO BE “HEALTHY”. BUT SO MANY OF THE PRACTICES OUT THERE REALLY AREN’T ABOUT SERVING YOUR UNIQUE NEEDS BUT ABOUT STICKING WITH THE STATUS QUO. *cough* consumerism, eurocentric beauty ideals, fatphobia *cough*.

Journal Prompt 2

Think of a time when you didn’t feel like yourself. When you showed up with anger, stress, or fear. What did you do to restore yourself? Write a list, so that no matter what life throws at you, you have the tools to recover, anywhere, anytime.

  • had a nap to restart

  • separated myself into another room to just breathe, cry, wash my face…

  • texted out all my thoughts to a friend sometimes I send them and sometimes I don’t

  • tap my foot over and over as a distraction

  • screamed in the car after like the person was still there or before I met them

  • ate or had something to drink

  • shake my hands and fingers

  • close my eyes

  • remind myself that things are not linear

  • essentials oil deep breaths

Journal Prompt 1

Write down the top 5 people, places, or occasions that bring you joy and what each means to you.

  1. Meeting Curtis when out for drinks with my Alex - serendipity and having a best friend who is always looking out for me.

  2. My mom - she has always encouraged my creativity, individuality, and independence.

  3. My downstairs bedroom at my parent’s old house - so many sleepovers, well more like sleepless nights of sneaking out to Denny’s and best friends.

  4. Getting married in our own backyard - now we get to remember that venue everyday

  5. My car - my first major purchase as an adult and where I normally do all my thinking, reflecting, and planning.

Welcome to Journaling

Journaling can help relieve stress, boost your memory, inspire creativity.

For me journaling is about getting all of those whirling thoughts just out on to the paper so I can see them, reflect on those thoughts, and then maybe start to make sense out of them.

Some people are able to just free thought journal, but for a lot of people that seems like a daunting task and don’t know where to start, so I’ve decided to start to put together some of my favourite journal prompts to help with the process!

Along with each prompt I will also give my answers to the questions. A little transparency to feel a little less alone in those moments and to give another perspective to reflect on.

These journal prompts will also be released through my IG stories and I would love it if you would tag me (@brittanyginnever) in any of your responses!
